Ingredients
To grind
- Oil / Ghee: 1 Tsp
- Cinnamon stick: 1 inch
- Cloves: 3
- Green chillies 2
- Shallots: 6
- Ginger and garlic : 1 Tsp each
- Tomato : 1/2
- Mint and coriander leaves
For Rice
- Oil / Ghee: 1 Tsp
- Bay leaf : 1
- Green Chilli : 2
- Onion : 1 Chopped
- Salt
- Tomato : 1/2
- Kashmiri Chilli powder : 1 Tbspn
- Turmeric powder : 1/2 Tsp
- Garam Masala : 1/2 Tsp
- Water : 5 1/4 Cups
- Basmati Rice : 3 cups
- Eggs : 5 boiled Optional
- Curd : 1/2 Cup (optional)
Method
- Heat a pressure cooker and add ingredients from the grinding section (1 - 8) and saute and transfer to a mixie jar
- In the same cooker heat oil and add bay leaf and green chilli and onion.
- While onions are cooking grind the masala in the mixie jar without adding water and keep ready
- Meanwhile onions would have been cooked, add the tomato
- Once soft add the powders and mix well. Add curd at this stage if preferred
- Add the water and salt and allow to boil.
- Add washed and drained rice ( Boiled eggs if preferred) and allow to cook for 1 whistle
- Wait for 5 mins and open and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
