Buffalo wings
Buffalo wings is an American appetizer, a recipe born in Buffalo city, New York in the 1970s which soon became a huge hit and continues to be a favourite. It is basically chicken wings marinated in seasoned flour and then deep fried and tossed in a delicious sauce.
Ingredients
- Fresh chicken wings : 1/2 kg ( cut into two pieces)
- All purpose flour : 4 tbsp
- Pepper powder for marinade : 1tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil to deep fry
- Butter : 2 tbsp
- Brown sugar : 1 tsp ( can be substituted with 1/2 tsp white sugar)
- Tomato sauce : 3 tbsp
- Chilli sauce : 1tsp
- Garlic powder : 1 tsp
- Pepper powder : 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
- Italian herbs : 1 tsp
- Oregano 1tsp
Method
- Prepare a dry mix of flour, salt and pepper
- Coat the chicken wings well with the flour mix and set aside for 10 mins
- Deep fry the coated wings ill golden brown on either sides.
- Heat butter in a pan and add brown sugar ( or sugar) to medium hot butter and keep stirring till a caramelized flavour is obtained ( should take 2-3 minutes on medium heat)
- Add tomato sauce, chilli sauce , garlic powder, pepper and red chilli powder and stir well
- Add herbs and oregano and give a last stir.
- Add fried chicken and toss well in the sizzling sauce.
