Buffalo wings


Buffalo wings is an American appetizer,  a recipe born in Buffalo city, New York in the 1970s which soon became a huge hit  and continues to be a favourite. It is basically chicken wings marinated in seasoned flour and then deep fried and tossed in a delicious sauce.




Ingredients

  • Fresh chicken wings : 1/2 kg ( cut into two pieces)
  • All purpose flour :  4 tbsp
  • Pepper powder for marinade : 1tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry
  • Butter :  2 tbsp
  • Brown sugar : 1 tsp ( can be substituted with 1/2 tsp white sugar)
  • Tomato sauce : 3 tbsp
  • Chilli sauce : 1tsp
  • Garlic powder : 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder : 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Italian herbs : 1 tsp
  • Oregano 1tsp


Method

  1. Prepare a dry mix of flour, salt and pepper
  2. Coat the chicken wings well with the flour mix and set aside for 10 mins
  3. Deep fry the coated wings ill golden brown on either sides.
  4. Heat butter in a pan and add brown sugar ( or sugar) to medium hot butter and keep stirring till a caramelized flavour is obtained ( should take 2-3 minutes on medium heat)
  5. Add tomato sauce, chilli sauce , garlic powder, pepper and red chilli powder and stir well
  6. Add herbs and oregano and give a last stir.
  7. Add fried chicken and toss well in the sizzling sauce.
Serve hot as an Appetizer
